Throughout history, slavery has plagued the human race. In today’s world, human trafficking or modern day slavery has aggressively become the fastest growing criminal enterprise (estimated at US$34bn annually) behind illegal drug trafficking and before illegal arms trading. It is estimated that an excess of 30 million people is currently enslaved in the world, and 50% of the global victims are African.

Researchers show that an estimated 80% are girls between the ages of 5-15 years old with a maximum life expectancy of 5 years, and the average age of a trafficked victim is 12 years old. Human Trafficking comes in many forms of evil, such as forced labour, sex trafficking, harmful traditions, organ selling, forced begging and drug peddling, amongst many others.
